Happy October!
October has long been my favorite month of the year. There are many reasons for this, but the main ones are as follows:
- It's my birthday month
- Because it's my birthday month, I have always had a particular affection for Halloween (think many, many Halloween-themed birthday parties)
- Fall is one of my most favorite times of year (tied only with Christmas time!) and October almost always feels truly fall (unlike September, which often feels like extended summer)
Ever since college, when I had my "own space" in a tiny dorm room, I have decorated with pumpkin pictures, fall-scented candles, and other fall-related decor. But now that I have a house, there's a whole new level of decorating that, before now, I never had known. So without further ado, please enjoy this photo of my first-ever fall front porch!
Currently, the flag is of a scarecrow but will soon be Halloween themed (as I found an awesome 6-pack of flags that covers all major seasons/holidays - and now I don't have to feel like a bad American for leaving my American flag flying at night/in the rain). There are some nearly dead mums next to our steps (I must get new ones soon), along with pumpkins and a solar powered ghost whose eyes are supposed to light up in the dark. Our wreath, to the left of the door, is a dry-flower wreath that was given to us as a housewarming gift by my aunt & grandma, and there's a small scarecrow "Welcome" sign to the right of the door. I even bought a bail of hay to decorate with pumpkins, which might just be my favorite part of the whole charade.
Soon, I'll be "updating" this look to be more Halloween-y, but for now, I'm thoroughly enjoying the fact that I have a front porch to decorate at all!
