Thankfulness

Dear baby girl,

Today marks week 38 of my pregnancy with you and I am officially ready to meet you. Please don't get me wrong - I have been ready to meet you since I first discovered that I was pregnant! - but now that everything from walking to dressing to sitting is uncomfortable, I feel more prepared than ever to conquer your delivery and safely bring you into this world.

You could literally come any time now, but you'll definitely be here sometime within the next 3 1/2 weeks; my doctor told me that the longest he'd let me stay pregnant would be December 1, a full 11 days past your due date. (I beg of you, little girl, please don't make me go that long. Please.) It's such a strange feeling to know that my life is about to change in such a drastic way and that I cannot yet imagine how. What I do know is that I already love you and that you are already the best thing that has ever happened to me.

In this month of Thanksgiving (which better should be your first holiday!), I think it's important for all of us to reflect on the things that we are most thankful for - especially as I become increasingly less comfortable and more anxious for you to officially join our lives! One of my favorite quotes is:

A perfect example is that I am most thankful for...
Our family (especially your Grandma & Grandpa, Nana & Papa, and two aunt Marys!)
My friends (near and far, new and old)
Faith (and our wonderful church community)
Your sisters, Polly & Ming

There are plenty of other "things" that I'm thankful for, like our little house, my warm bed, food on the table, our vehicles, our jobs - the list goes on - but the best things in life, truly, are not things.

And you, my baby girl, will be the best of the best. I cannot wait until your arrival!

I love you,
Mommy
