The Start of Something New
This blog began as "The Rhode Ahead," and was intended to chronicle my life as a newlywed in Rhode Island. But over the past few months, a lot changed for us both personally and professionally. As I described here, some major changes occurred at my job and Sean and I decided to start looking for jobs in our home city of Rochester, NY. We expected the process to take a long time, but within a month we both had excellent job offers and had put in our two-weeks notice at our current jobs.
Because everything happened so quickly, we didn't have time to look at apartments in Rochester, and luckily (or thanks to Divine Intervention), my grandmother's house (which my family still owns but had been renting out) was going to be vacant the day that we were moving to the area. Although the house is about 45 minutes from our new jobs (and further from the city than we eventually want to be), we have a great place to stay until we've saved a little money and found a decent apartment in the city.
Therefore, our newest adventure will be RE-discovering home... because it has been 3 1/2 years since we have lived this close to our families, our experience is sure to be an exciting one. While I anticipate some conflicts and challenges, I also look forward to developing closer relationships to both of our families and, eventually, providing our (future) children with easy access to both sets of grandparents.
So, please join me as we embark on our newest adventure!
