Love is in the Air!

Dear Baby Charlotte,

This weekend was a very exciting one.... your Aunt Mary & Uncle Kris got ENGAGED!

I was very excited to receive the news, but I already knew it was going to happen. Your Uncle Kris told me a month or two ago that he was planning to ask her. He told me how much he loved her and our family and that he wanted us to someday love him as much. (Don't worry, though - we already do!)

Your Aunt Mary & I are about 3 1/2 years apart, so when we were little we used to play together all the time. I have so many memories of playing any variation of house/church/school (the list goes on), watching our favorite TV shows, and singing songs with her.

When I was in high school & Aunt Mary was in middle school, we grew apart and didn't have nearly as much in common. I was always with my friends/high school boyfriend, and Aunt Mary began dating a series of awful-to-okay guys (some were definitely better than others). When I went off to college, we became even more distant. Then, I moved to Rhode Island for graduate school and, although we were somewhat closer, we were physically distant so our relationship didn't grow as much we I would've liked. 

It wasn't until the fall of 2012 when your daddy & I moved back to Rochester that Aunt Mary & my relationship grew. She started dating Uncle Kris shortly thereafter, and it's felt like he's been part of the family since the very beginning.

There are a lot of things I love about your Aunt Mary - she's fiercely loyal, confident, talented, smart, and pretty darn funny. She has a lot of qualities that I admire and hope you learn.

Your Uncle Kris also has a lot of lovable qualities. He's one of the most kind, hard-working people I've ever met, and he has an awesome laugh! He has a big heart, a quick mind, and has shown love for you since the very first time you met each other.

I am so excited to help my sister plan her wedding. Planning my own was a joy, but I have a feeling that helping her to plan her special day will be its own special fairy tale. And who knows... maybe you'll even be the flower girl!
