Vacation {all I ever wanted} Vacation {have to get away}
Some of you may remember this post (my "25 by 30" list). I'm happy to report that I've already crossed one thing off my list (and I'm only 4.5 months in!) but will wait 5 more years 1 year for an official update on how I'm doing. At this point in time, though, I'm getting really sick of winter/snow/slush/cold and catch myself daydreaming often about taking a trip somewhere warm and/or far away. As a result, Sean & I are currently trying to decide between #7 (visit Europe) and #10 (go on a road trip). This summer, we will do one of the two... but the question is - which one?
Europe has its obvious charms. It's beautiful, historical, full of things to do/see... the list could go on. But, most importantly, it's expensive. The cheapest plane fare that I can find for mid-late June is $750 per ticket into Paris, and that's if we drive 3 hours and fly out of Toronto. For the $1500 that we'd be spending on airfare alone, we could take a really nice roadtrip somewhere in the US or Canada.
Which brings me to idea numero dos - road trip! We explored the south last summer but have never been to Nashville, North Carolina's beach towns, Virginia... and would love a southern road trip. This, undoubtedly, would be cheap but also very hot (our Disney honeymoon taught us all about sothern summers). Another road trip option would be to drive up to Ottawa or Montreal and then back-track through Canadian towns/cities (like Toronto, St. Catherine's, and Niagara-on-the-Lake). Canada is, after all, another country (even if we don't often think of it as one since it's so close)!
Where do you think we should go? I'd appreciate suggestions!
