First Glimpse...

Dear baby,

Last Wednesday, I had my first ultrasound. I knew I was only about 6 weeks along so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Your daddy was sick on Wednesday (he came down with what we think was the flu - a fever of 103 and a terrible headache that didn't end for almost 4 days!) but he still came with me to my appointment. It warmed my heart to have him there with me. When we checked in, he even picked up a surgical mask that was available at the front desk so that he wouldn't get anyone else sick. When he put it on, though, I couldn't stop laughing at him. He looked really silly in that mask! So when they called my name, he took it off as we walked to the ultrasound room.

We had a really nice ultrasound tech who took no time at all to find the little dot that is you! I was laying awkwardly on a metal table and didn't have the best view of the flat-screen TV that was on the wall to my left, but the tech said, "Do you notice that little white blink? That's the heartbeat!" Your daddy definitely saw it (and I think I saw it!) and it was amazing. You exist. And we already can't wait to meet you.

You're the most beautiful little dot that I have ever seen :)
