Weekend Fun!

This weekend was one of the best that Sean & I have had in a long time. It was busy, but the sun was shining, the weather was warm, and we were happy!

On Saturday morning, we woke up bright & early for the inspection of our new house! I was actually pretty nervous, but it couldn't have gone better. Our realtor said that it was the best inspection he's ever seen! We're very lucky that the current owner has taken such great care of it. My dad came up to help us take measurements of the windows (for curtains), backyard (for a fence) and a few other things around the house. The next step is our formal mortgage application, which we're going to work on tomorrow evening. It's so exciting to be one step closer to living in our new home!

After the inspection, we drove to my hometown and got lunch with my sister at a local pub. We had a great visit (as usual) and ate some deliciously unhealthy foods. After lunch, Sean & I went to a 1st birthday party for my friend Jen's beautiful little girl. It was so much fun - there were adorable babies and toddlers everywhere! - and I also got to see a high school classmate who has an adorable 3 year-old and a super sweet 5 month-old! It's amazing how much joy little ones can bring!

We went to church that afternoon because my dad and aunt play in the bell choir, so we heard them play (if you've never heard a bell choir, you're missing out!) and then went to dinner with my dad, aunt, and grandma at the restaurant where my sister works. She was able to serve us, which is always fun, and we enjoyed a great meal & conversation. We didn't get back home until late, at which point I was pretty exhausted from our early morning, but it was great!

On Sunday, we woke up to beautiful sunshine and blue skies and decided to take Pollyanna for a walk through Highland Park. It was gorgeous outside and we had a great time seeing the trees starting to bloom!

After our walk, we were all pretty hot so we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to get our first ice cream cones of the year! Pollyanna was especially thrilled, even though she tried to eat the cup.

She enjoyed the ice cream so much, in fact, that she had vanilla dribbles all over her face. We decided to bring her to the groomer for a bath, and even though she didn't love that nearly as much as she loved the ice cream, she now has super soft fur and a sweet floral smell :)

Even after the groomer, we had a little free time before our next outing so Sean went to the driving range and I stopped at the library to pick up a few more books.

Later on Sunday afternoon, we went to watch Eden & Tim's little league game. I've known this family for almost 7 years, when I was hired to babysit for 3 month-old Eden & Tim and their 5 year-old big brother, Sean. Even though I technically worked for them throughout college, they immediately became like family to me. They visited me in Rhode Island the summer that I moved there, the kids were all in our wedding (Eden & Tim were flower girl and ring bearer and Sean was a junior usher) and we've seen them many times since we moved back to Rochester. Sean and I both love spending time with them and we're so thankful to have them in our lives. The game was really adorable to watch, and afterward, we went out to dinner. It was the perfect ending to our wonderful weekend.

While we were laying in bed last night, Sean said, "I loved every second of this weekend." Even though we didn't do anything too adventurous of outwardly "exciting," I agree with him. It's the littlest things that bring us the most joy, after all, and this weekend was a joyful one.
