Thankful Thursday
I have a lot to be thankful for on this July 5, 2012.
First of all, yesterday was America's 236th birthday. Sean & I celebrated the night before by attending our town's firework display, which was held at a park that, until this week, we didn't know existed!
The park is less than a mile from our apartment, so we decided to walk and enjoyed the beautiful weather along the way. Almost the entire way there, we saw families sitting in their front yards with food & drinks, and though it made us sad that we weren't celebrating the holiday with our families, we enjoyed the time we spent as a twosome. I always tell him that "someday, we'll look back on this time in our lives and miss the days when it was just the two of us." I hope that I'm right about that!
On the actual 4th, we cooked burgers on the grill, made homemade pasta salad & sangria, and snacked on delicious watermelon. We packed for our upcoming vacation and we watched the Washington, DC 4th of July special in the evening. We enjoyed spending time with our "girls" (Polly, the dog, and Ming, the cat).
With all of that being said... it's important for me to say that I am so thankful for this beautiful country. I'm thankful for our freedoms, our diversity, our joy, our unity... and always, I am thankful for our troops & their families who sacrifice so much so that we can enjoy these things. God bless the USA!
Today, I am celebrating my one year anniversary of working at this job. I am so thankful to work at a place where I feel appreciated, and where I truly learn something new every day.
I am thankful for my husband, my family & my friends, many of whom are scattered all across America. Although I don't see them as often as I'd like, I am thankful to have access to a computer and a cell phone so that I can communicate with them regularly.
Last but not least, I am thankful for my life. Things happen (every day, to be honest) that frustrate me, make me sad, make me angry... the list could go on... but there are more things in my life that create opportunities for joy, laughter, and love. In the end, isn't the whole point to realize that the good outweighs the bad?
Happy Thursday, all!
