Helloooo, second trimester!

Dear baby,

Yesterday was the first day of my second trimester. According to all of my baby books, the second trimester is the best - you have your energy back, you're feeling less nauseated, but you're not so huge that you're uncomfortable, like much of the third trimester. So imagine my surprise when I got a terrible wave of nausea yesterday morning in the middle of a student appointment. I rushed through the poor guy's resume and then shooed him out of my office so that I could beg our secretary, Linda, for some snacks. Luckily she had peanut butter & crackers, but I didn't feel totally better until my colleague Rachel gave me a whole sleeve of graham crackers. So day #1 of the second trimester didn't quite live up to expectations, but at least I feel pretty good today!

Tonight, daddy and I are going to the Rochester Broadway Theatre League (RBTL) to watch some area high school students compete to represent Rochester at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards! This will be one of your first in-utero musical events, and even though I know you aren't able to hear yet, I hope you can feel my joy and excitement when we enter the theatre. Musical theatre is a big part of my life (if only for the immense, immeasurable joy that it brings me) and I am so glad that I have kept in touch with my friend Bob (my former internship supervisor) who works at the RBTL as the Director of Educational Outreach. The RBTL brings so many wonderful touring broadway shows to our area and I look forward to bringing you there someday so that you can experience the joy of theatre, too :)

Love,
Mommy
