October
Dear Charlotte,
I love October. I already explained to you how much I love fall, but I want to take a minute to explain how much I love October.
My birthday is on the 27th, so many of my birthday parties involved a Halloween theme. I never tired of the costumes, the crisp air, and the pumpkin and/or apple flavored treats. When I went to college, I never really participated in the Halloween "celebrations" (they were often dirty parties in frat houses at which the girls would wear, well, not much) but when we spent our first October in our own house I was thrilled that we could participate in the Halloween festivities! We carved pumpkins and proudly displayed them on our porch. We decorated our steps with pumpkins, hay, a ghost statue, and a jack-o-lantern flag.
There are also a TON of Halloween events that we will be taking part in this month. First, there is a Scarecrow Fest in Fairport (one of my favorite local towns). There's an awesome event called "Zoo Boo" where little kids can dress up and trick-or-treat around the zoo, and we're going to Stokoe Farms (where we cut down our Christmas tree) to pick pumpkins to carve. There is also a Halloween Fest at our alma mater, St. John Fisher College, that we look forward to bringing you to.
I've been reading you lots of Halloween stories, which you love, and will read you a lot more before the month is over!
This morning, your daddy and I put you in your Halloween costume to see what you thought! It's a really cute elephant (complete with stockings and a warm long-sleeved shirt underneath) but we just put the actual elephant part on over your onesie.
You are so. stinkin'. cute.
Can't wait to celebrate Halloween and all of the wonderful October festivities with you, baby girl.
I love you,
Mommy
