Apartment Hunting

We've only been in NY for a week & a half, and Sean and I are already itching to move. As much as I love this house (we're currently living in the house that my grandmother owned & lived in for over 40 years, so it holds many precious memories for me and my family), my commute - and especially Sean's - is long, and gas is incredibly expensive ($4.10ish a gallon - WHAT??!!), so we are hoping to find a decent place to live asap.

That being said, we're picky. We are hoping to look at all of our options before making a decision, but we have a lengthy wish list. On the bright side, living here is about 30% less than in Rhode Island, so the quality of apartment that we lived in in RI will be about $400 cheaper each month!

This is what we're looking for...
  • A place that allows cats and (small) dogs. Our #1 priority is having an apartment that allows our pets! This one is non-negotiable!
  • Laundry. We own a washer & dryer, so hookups would be ideal, but we'd also be happy with a laundry facility in our building.
  • One bedroom is enough, but if we found a place with a little "extra" space (in some shape or form) we'd be thrilled.
  • Location! Sean & I work about 6ish miles from one another, so we're hoping to find a place in between so that we can (majorly) cut back on gas money!
  • Amenities - a pool, fitness center, and/or clubhouse facility would be nice but is (of course) not a necessity.
  • Storage space. Not much, because I don't want to collect a ton of junk, but somewhere to hold our holiday decorations and our bicycles (which we still have to buy)!
Mostly, though, we want somewhere that is decently nice. We hope to stay for 1-2 years before buying a house, so we'll be thorough in our search! Sean & I will be looking over the next few weeks and I will be posting the updates.

Let  the apartment hunt commence!

    1. Thanks Megan! I haven't really been advertising it much and could maybe use some advice about that... but I have been really enjoying it so far and hope to meet some friends this way, as I know you have! :)
