Settling In

A lot has happened since I last wrote a blog post! Most notably, our big move occurred the weekend before last. My dad and aunt drove the six-hours from NY to RI and helped us (along with two RI friends) pack the 20' moving truck FULL of our stuff. Luckily, there were three additional vehicles making the trip to Rochester - we ended up filling every bit of possible space in the moving truck AND the three cars.

We had a beautiful day for our drive, but all I could think about during the drive was the fact that we still had unpacking to do. Surprisingly, it only took about 1.5 hours from the time we arrived at the house to the time everything was unpacked from the moving truck & cars. As I mentioned in this post, we are temporarily staying in the house that my grandmother lived in for many years, but plan to move much closer to our jobs in the next couple of months. Because of this, we've only unpacked about 1/4 of our stuff, and even though we're settling in, we are still not feeling 100% relaxed because we know that we have another move coming up. Let's home that we find a good apartment to move into sometime soon so we can finally feel truly at home.

We are currently living in the town in which I grew up... and it has been an interesting adjustment! I ran into a  boy who I used to babysit when he was about five. He is now a JUNIOR in high school (his brother just started college) and I could hardly believe it when I saw him!

Every time I go to the grocery store, I run into people that I knew from high school or from my church. Having lived for four years in a place where I really didn't know many people, living around LOTS of familiar faces is a very different experience - and, so far, an enjoyable one! I have a feeling that I will be ready to move on by the time we move to the city, but in the meantime, I am enjoying this small town lifestyle!
