DiBella's Subs & Our Not-So-Productive Sunday

Yesterday, Sean & I took a trip to the city to look at a couple of apartments (both of which were part of larger houses, as opposed to complexes). The first appointment was at noon, and we viewed a first floor apartment in a mediocre neighborhood in the city. Though the overall layout was nice, something about it just felt dirty (but needed more than just a good cleaning). When we left, we decided that we'd leave it on our short list and bump it off if something better came along.

Our next appointment wasn't until 4pm, so I called my aunt (who lives in the area) and she met us at the newest "DiBella's Subs," a Rochester staple that has been around since 1918! I had been to DiBella's before (at least four years ago), but this brand new DiBella's was something really special!
Inside, there was a gorgeous array of colorful vegetables and a deli area with the most beautiful array of deli meats that would put even the cutest of meat markets to shame!

Our meal was delicious (notice that there are no photos of the food?) and we enjoyed my aunt & cousin's company. After lunch, Sean & I headed to the second apartment, which was 1/2 of a duplex in a fairly quiet residential neighborhood in the city. The property was gorgeous - though the house was old, the interior had been updated - and we enjoyed the layout of the 3 bedroom (!) unit. There were hardwood floors, new carpet, lots of storage, washer/dryer hookups... it was our kind of place!

After we left, we contacted a local friend to ask him about the neighborhood. Unfortunately, he told us that the area is deceivingly nice and that it's actually pretty sketchy. Further, our commutes would require us to drive through some of the heaviest traffic in the city.

In the end, neither place panned our for us... so our Sunday wasn't as productive as we had hoped. It's a good thing we ate such a delicious lunch or I would have felt even worse about our lack of productivity!

This evening, we will be looking at an apartment complex very near both of our jobs. After the false hope of this weekend's duplex, we're hoping to enjoy tonight's apartment and to have a place to call "home" for the first time since we re-located. Stay tuned!
