18 Week "Bumpdate"

Dear baby,

At 18 weeks, I figured I should start documenting my weekly thoughts/feelings in regards to the pregnancy. After all, I will only be 18 (and 19, and 20, etc.) weeks pregnant once with you and I don't want to forget it.

How Far Along:  18 weeks!

Size of baby:  According to BabyCenter.com, you're the size of a Bell Pepper (about 5 1/2 inches long).

Total Weight Gain/LossAbout 11 pounds gained. As depressed as this makes me, I am only 2 pounds above the "normal" range for this point in pregnancy. I hope I fall into the normal range sometime soon.

Maternity Clothes: I'm still wearing some of my regular shirts and one pair of my regular pants (unbuttoned, of course). Otherwise, I have a few maternity pants, shirts, and dresses that I wear the rest of the time (and that are much more comfortable).

Movement: So far I have felt a few flutters, but nothing that has made me certain that it was you. I know that you're moving around like crazy, as evidenced by each of the ultrasounds we've had done, but I'm so anxious to feel that movement for myself!

Sleep: I'm sleeping pretty well! I've had weird dreams (which hasn't changed much, as I've always had weird dreams), don't ever want to get out of bed when the alarm goes off, and get up often for midnight potty breaks, but other than that I'm sleeping well.

What I miss: Riding bikes (around this time of year Sean & I would normally be riding along the canal path... but with my center of gravity changing, I'm more likely to fall. That would not be good.) and going on roller coasters.

What I’m looking forward to: Our next ultrasound in one week. I LOVE seeing your heart beat and watching you move around like crazy!

Cravings: I've been craving Italian subs lately... which is odd for many reasons. First, I don't like Italian subs. Second, I can't eat cold deli meat. And third, I don't eat meat.

Aversions: Most meats... which makes sense because I'm a vegetarian. But chicken and other meat items have been really grossing me out lately.

Symptoms: Overall, I'm feeling great. My energy has come back - at least enough so that I can stay awake past 8pm - and I am able to cook dinner with your daddy again, which has always been enjoyable for me (except for my entire first trimester).

Belly Button In or Out: In.

Best Moment This Week: Sharing the news with our families that you're a little GIRL! It was such a joy to share this news with them in person.

Milestones: Starting to show. I think I actually look pregnant now (depending on what I wear) and that people who don't know me are able to tell that I'm expecting.
