Babymoon

As incredibly excited as I am about meeting our little one in about 23 weeks, I am feeling rather sentimental about the changes that are on the way for me & Sean. I so love our time together, and even though the changes will surely all be for the best, I can't help but feel a little pang of sadness when I think that it will no longer be "just the two of us," as it has been for so long.

Enter the babymoon. Over the past couple of months (since finding out about my pregnancy) we have had on-and-off discussions about how nice it would be to take a vacation, but it never went any further than a discussion. After all, we just bought a house (closing is in about a week! Woo hoo!) and have a baby coming in November, so we don't have as much free time/extra money as we might like. However, a thought hit me after one of our conversations... "If we don't do this just-the-two-of-us vacatoin now, we never will have the chance to do this again for a very, very long time."

So I asked Sean if he wanted to seriously consider a summer getaway and I had barely finished my sentence before he happily agreed with me and said, "Where to?!"

I'm surprised he even asked, since he knows that my favorite place in the world is Disney World! We have so many wonderful memories from our honeymoon there that I couldn't imagine spending our "babymoon" anywhere else. I immediately identified a week that would work for both of us to take off from work, and I started looking for deals on flights/hotels/plane tickets. Luckily, we found a really good deal on direct flights out of Buffalo (about a 45-60 minute drive) and then I purchased our park tickets through AAA (thank you, discounts!). We decided to stay at the Swan & Dolphin, which is located within walking distance of Epcot (our favorite park).

This trip will be very different than our honeymoon. First of all, mid-summer = mega heat in Florida, so we'll likely spend much time by the pool(s). There will be no MGM Hollywood Studios (most of the attractions that I cannot ride reside there) or "drinking around the world" in Epcot. But I know for sure that we will have memories that will last us forever, and I am so glad that we will be spending a week away to celebrate our marriage & our little bundle of joy that's on the way in November!

  1. That is such a great idea! Hubs and I have decided that the one big thing we want to do before having a baby is running the disney princess half marathon and spending a week in Disney after
