Baby Shower(s)
The past few weeks have been very exciting and productive for us, particularly on the baby front! I had my baby shower and felt so blessed to be surrounded by family and friends who were incredibly generous with gifts for our baby girl. Our best friends, Christine and Jordan, drove all the way from Connecticut the Saturday of my shower (they left at 5:45am!) in order to make it on time, and then spent the weekend with us. We had, as usual, a fantastic time with them!
After the shower, we spend a good portion of the weekend putting things together, including the baby swing and the stroller, and then my dad came over to help Sean assemble the crib. Later in the week our changing table arrived and we bought a gliding rocker (best. chair. ever.) so, aside from a few decorative touches, the nursery is almost complete!

As if that wasn't wonderful enough, I was working at my desk yesterday when my co-worker Danielle told me that she needed to look at some event space in a nearby building and wondered if I'd take a walk with her. Since Danielle and I have become good friends, I was excited about the opportunity to get some fresh air and visit with her! We walked to the campus Art Center and into a room where about 25 of my colleagues shouted "SURPRISE!" and had set up a beautiful baby shower for me. Even my husband (who is normally terrible at keeping secrets) was in on the action and was able to come to the shower.
Since I'm only four weeks (!!!) from my due date, and honestly feeling like this baby could come any time, I'm feeling especially grateful and touched by the generosity that so many people have shown toward our little family. This little girl is a lucky one... and so are her parents ;)
